Well it's that time of the year again where I get to celebrate turning another year older with beautiful gifts and endless amounts of cake and lollies by my lovely family and friends. This year is an extra special birthday to me, as it will be my first celebrating with my own little family, so I wanted to do something a little different.
I was touched by a segment on 60 minutes a few weeks back on Dr John Swinnen (I think I've turned into a big softie since having Ollie), and the medical assistance he is providing thousands of people injured, including innocent babies and children, in the recent war with Israel. Instead of birthday gifts this year I am hoping to raise money, big or small, for Doctors Without Borders, who are an independent organisation whose interventions are based on needs alone, not on political, economic, religious or social agendas.
Please take a minute to watch the interview and the incredible devotion Dr Swinnen has to helping out those most in need http://www.jump-in.com.au/show/60minutes/stories/2014/september/lifesaver/
